GreaterThan Leadership Workshop at WeWork Labs
What IS leadership? Often talked about, rarely defined, leadership is a skill that tends to be elusive and very hard to develop.
…unless you attended the GreaterThan Leadership Workshop at WeWork Labs last month where members of the WeWork Labs community examined authentic leadership with GreaterThan. Workshop participants participated in dynamic, interactive discussions to explore the characteristics of authentic leadership and to identify strong leadership in their own organizations and within the broader WeWork community.
What is authentic leadership?
How do you demonstrate leadership?
Are you courageous?
Heroic? Persistent? Civil?
A look in the mirror is the first step toward understanding how well you are doing as a great leader!
What Kind of Leader are You?
Prior to the workshop, workshop invitees completed the GreaterThan personal leadership assessment, and individualized results were reviewed during the workshop. While examining each of various leadership strengths, participants had an opportunity to better understand his or her own leadership challenges, blind spots, and improvement opportunities. After sharing different insights and perspectives on the benefits and challenges of developing leadership characteristics to become a more authentic leader, WeWork Labs members identified and shared thoughts about ways within their current day-to-day to eliminate as many of these blind spots as possible.
Through these discussions and information sharing, participants learned techniques for creating an environment where trust, collaboration and smart risk-taking is the norm.
During this interactive learning experience participants also had frank discussions about the ways personal leadership can impact their successes within the community and in business. The breadth of knowledge and experience provided an excellent forum to learn abut successes and failures from other members of the Labs community!
Participants emerged from the workshop with with insights into what makes a leader exceptional, and how to become that exceptional leader.
